Our Ben’s Friends communities are again getting some new improvements. Members and readers will soon find a new landing page when visiting each community site’s home page. At present, it was the forum page that they immediately see when they reach the site.
In the new landing page, visitors will find some helpful information about the disease, the purpose of the community site, as well as who it was intended for.
Some information about Ben’s Friends, including a short video, will also be featured in the new landing page.
According to our Co-ED Clasina Field, the team decided to add a landing page because “[w]e want to give a first impression of a community that is dynamic and welcoming to newcomers, something that we’ve heard that the current home page doesn’t always do.”
Clasina also explained that another purpose of this improvement is to attract more visitors. This will help us attain our mission which is “to ensure that patients living with rare diseases or chronic illnesses, as well as their caregivers, family, and friends, have a safe and supportive place to connect with others like them”.
“We hope to make this community more easily “findable” by the people who need it. To make it findable, we need a home page that Google and other search engines can zero in on and rank highly,” Clasina added.
Co-ED Tom James said that so far, the new landing has been made available to the Living with Eagle Syndrome community visitors to gather suggestions for further improvement.
